What a remarkable cross country season for freshman Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley. On Saturday, she won the state Division I girls’ individual title with a time of 16:57. That ‘s a record time for a freshman. She deserves the phenom label. And just wait until track season.

She beat another freshman, Clare Carroll from Granite Bay. Imagine the rivarly they’re going to have over the next three years.
