Senior Steven Manfro rushed for 231 yards and his 22nd and 23rd touchdowns of the season, helping No. 21 Valencia to a 27-7 halftime lead over crosstown rival West Ranch in the Foothill League opener for both schools at Valencia.

The run that sent Manfro over 200 yards for the half was a spectacular 78-yard scoring dash midway through the second period that started off as a simple plunge up the middle. But Manfro broke several tackles at the line then outran the West Ranch secondary to the end zone.

He would have had 30 more yards in the half but his sprint to the Wildcat 1 was called back by a penalty, one of more than a half dozen mistake-prone Valencia committed in the half. The Vikings also fumbled inside the West Ranch 10 in the second period.
