Football: The Times' top 25

Chino Hills is in and Newport Harbor is out in the only major change in this week's top 25 rankings by The Times.

2. Westlake (5-0)

3. Servite (5-0)

4. Corona Centennial (5-0)

5. Gardena Serra (5-0)

There's still a lot of teams with 4-1 and 5-0 records -- and only 25 spots on this list, which means nothing anyway.

The REAL shakeout will happen in the next few weeks, and league play starts.

The real important rankings will be the playoff seedings. Until then, just think about next week's game.

Wow no love for Palos Verdes? they should be at least ranked in the 20's

The top five teams are interchangeable, the rankings are subjective in this range.

I guess we'll see how real Amat and Alemany are as league play commenses.

After that, I also have to ask why Crespi is ranked below Vista M. The Inland teams, with the exception of Centennial, have not fared well against non-league opponents and don't deserve their rankings. I doubt Norco is better than Bosco, San Clemente, MD,Santa Marg., Th. Oaks, Crespi.

I agree...Crespi whacked Vista Murrieta by 14 ON THE ROAD....why would Vista be ahead of them? Also, Dorsey may be 5-0 but they are NOT the second-best City team behind Crenshaw...that would be CARSON..truly battle-tested, can BOTH run and pass, improving D and improving O-Line...Dorsey would be 3rd; Taft 4th; Narbonne - 5th

Hey Zeus

how is Crespi ranked nine spots lower than Vista Murietta? Didn't they beat Vista by 14 pts?

Amat is over-rated.
They have not played any competition yet.
We will see how good they are this Friday against the Celts.
Look for Alemany to win the Serra League, but beware
of the under-rated Loyola Cubs.
Notre Dame, good luck next year.
