Football: Lakewood, L.B. Poly join forces for breast cancer cure
The student leadership at Lakewood and Long Beach Poly will be using Friday's football game between the two schools to raise funds for the cure of breast cancer.
There will be competition in the stands to see which school can bring in the most donations during the 7 p.m. Moore League game at Veterans Stadium.
Also, at 6:45 p.m., Lakewood and Poly staff members who are breast cancer survivors will be honored on the field.
Football players will be wearing pink bandanas under their helmets and pink ribbon stickers on their helmets. Pink foam footballs will be tossed into the stands.

Just because two schools are hyper competitive on the gridiron and wanna kick each other in the butts up and down the field, doesn't mean that the student body looses perspective on what's really important in life.
Yeah, Long Beach Poly & Lakewood getting together to to help Kick Cancer in the Butt...that works for me.
And if you're sitting at home, come to Vet's Stadium (early) to watch a great game and wear Pink.
And if you can't make it, watch on TV (local LA Sports Channel), wear Pink anyway, and send in a donation to your local Breast Cancer Foundation.
And of course, I'll be at Veteran's Stadium in Long Beach (early) this Friday, I'll be wearing Pink, have my donation ready (already), and LB Poly WILL going ALL GAS and NO BRAKES...
...Go Poly!!!
