West Hills Chaminade kicker-punter Matt Goudis has committed to Boise State.

“The coaches, they’re great, and then the opportunity to be able to start as a freshman — and the town is great,” he told the Idaho Statesman. “Everyone there seems like they love the Broncos.”

Boise State was the only school to offer Goudis so far, but he visited Florida and also had talks with Michigan, California and Fresno State, he said.

The talks with Florida were “pretty serious,” he said. “But they weren’t sure if they were going to offer a kicker in my class. I didn’t feel like waiting.

“I can’t explain it — how much fun it’s going to be. This is a great opportunity for me. I understand what it’s like to be young on a team. I really want to compete next year and help them win the Mountain West.”
