West Hills Chaminade sure takes its dress code seriously. Defensive lineman Jason Franklin got stuck with 30 minutes of detention on Tuesday because he had a little facial hair growing under his chin.

That’s a no-no. According to the Chaminade dress code, ‘Boys are to be clean shaven with no beards or mustaches.’

But how are football players supposed to look mean and nasty if they can’t have a little facial hair? The Eagles are 6-0 going into their Mission League game against St. Francis on Friday.

At least standout linebacker Sam Mercer won’t have any problem with detention.

‘I don’t have enough facial hair to be caught,’ he said.
