Baseball: Gold medals for Perez, Lopes

Pitcher Felipe Perez from Anaheim Fairmont Prep and infielder Timmy Lopes from Huntington Beach Edison earned gold medals Sunday in helping the U.S. 16-and-under national team defeat Mexico in the championshp game of the ‘AA’ Pan American Championships in Mexico.

Perez was the winning pitcher in relief. Lopes started at third base and drove in a run.
