Covina Northview’s baseball team is offering a 1966 Mustang valued at between $40,000 and $50,000 to the winning raffle ticket that’s being sold for $20.

The car was donated by Joe Hernandez, who owns a shop in Azusa that customizes cars. Hernandez was participating in a car show to raise funds for the baseball program and then decided to donate the Mustang.

‘It’s unbelievable,’ Coach Darren Murphy said. ‘Those of us are still in shock.’

Northview will use funds raised to help pay for a synthetic turf infield that the school hopes to purchase for its baseball diamond.

The drawing for the raffle is scheduled for Jan. 8. Tickets are being sold at Northview and more information is available at 626-723-6246.
