Football: Upland's Van Ginkel comes out in top form

September 6, 2010 |  8:22 am

Jake Van Ginkel, the No. 1 kicker-punter in Southern California, proved to be a valuable weapon for Upland in its 21-16 season-opening victory over Fontana Miller last week.

Van Ginkel made field goals from 50, 50 and 45 yards. He also got off punts from 45 and 49 yards.

I still don't understand how Van Ginkel, who dreamed of playing for USC, didn't get a scholarship offer from the Trojans. Big mistake.
