Football: Seven TDs for Venice running back

Teondray Caldwell from Venice scored all seven of his team's touchdowns and rushed for 291 yards in Venice's 47-16 victory over North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake.

Gardena Serra demonstrated its superiority with a 34-7 season-opening victory over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.

Serra picked up 522 yards in total offense. Shaquille Richard rushed for 144 yards and one touchdown. Conner Preston competed 11 of 19 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns. George Farmer caught four passes for 91 yards and one touchdown.

It was a good day for first-year coaches. Harry Welch's Santa Margarita team beat Pomona Diamond Ranch, 56-0.

Jason Negro's St. John Bosco team beat Mission Hills, 47-21. Bryce Treggs caught two TD passes. Rene Medina passed for four TDs. Martin Brown scored three TDs.

Bishop Amat defeated Garfield, 23-0.
