Football: Neuheisel sidelined by concussion

Los Angeles Loyola quarterback Jerry Neuheisel did not play in the second half of his team's 37-15 loss to Bellflower St. John Bosco on Friday because he was held out after suffering a concussion.

Trainer Tim Moscicki said Neuheisel's status was day to day on whether he'll be available for the Cubs' (1-3) next game on Friday against Upland.

Bosco Dad

I am a Bosco dad, who watched this game last Friday. I am not concerned about bitter fans on both sides calling this a "dirty" game. As a former high school coach (many years ago in another state), this game was played without bad sportsmanship, lost tempers and hot-dogging. It was an honorably played contest by both teams, despite contrary statements made by a few over-zealous parents on this blog.
My concern is the excessive penalties that were incurred by Bosco. They let Loyola back into the game late in the first half with a series of penalties that moved Loyola from mid-field to the red zone. There were large gains, both passing and rushing, that were negated by holding penalties. This game should have been a blowout, but it wasn't.
Bosco has to show more discipline, and it is up to coach Jason Negro and his staff to correct this sloppy play prior to the start of the Trinity League season.
Without correcting these mistakes, Bosco will lose games that it otherwise would have won.

Objectivesortof

This is perhaps the greatest statement about where Bosco football is heading. Loyola fans, so long used to kicking the crap out of Bosco, CRYING about poor sportsmanship after a LOSS. Haha, really cubbies, is this he best you have to offer?

Let me offer a few observations from that game. 1) Neither team played a dirty game. What happens between the whistles happens, it's the refs job to call that. True they may have called too many holdings on Bosco, and missed quite a few clips by Loyola, but that's not the Loyola players or SJB players fault. There are always penalties called or missed. But, there was not after the whistle things or fights going on. Nothing that anyone WATCHING THE FILM would call dirty, from either team. So, if you are calling dirty on this, then things have truly flipped around and Loyola is falling further down the drain than I thought.

2) Loyola is not poorly coached, they just don't have the guys anymore. Sorry cubbies, but you guys are just not talented. Bosco played a bad game and still beat you by three TDs. Two years ago they put up 41 points in the FIRST HALF against you. Last year we played poorly, and the coach got fired. Well, so did yours, and we see the result when we both have good coaches, you get your ass stomped. Fact is there is not more than three players on all of Loyola that might play for Bosco, Baker being one of them. No one in your front seven is good. Oline and Dline is terrible. No team speed and no QB.

Sorry guys, but Loyola just doesn't get the players anymore. Maybe playing with a little attitude would help them, because they don't have the talent.

lol i heard he thru an interception and hit the ground trying to tackle the guy

Cub Parent

@Hefe ...Well At least u admit thats the Way U play is dirty & thats what ur rep. is about which I wouldnt be so proud of regardless of who plays like what. R u your own person or do u also follow what everyone else does? If you Read the Cubs Posting he Put AFTER WATCHING THE FILM ...not what he thought or felt but the actual footage. So Why are u so angry?

Btw our School is far from over priced considering what our children our actually there for which is one of best educations offered. Some peoples want great futures for their children not just a great Al Bundy Football Career!
Men for Others is what we stand by raising Great Boys to Become Great Men who are about more than just themselves and actually contribute to society in a good, make a difference kind of way! Dont get this wrong I am not poutting down Bosco I am nearly standing up in regards to that comment you made about our so called over priced school. Its worth every penny!

Hope U all Have a Great & Blessed Day! :)

heeyy

footballplayer

football fan,

you should go watch a golf or tennis match

Jeremiah

Football Fan- Why so angry? Maybe I lack your keen observation skills but I saw none of the so-called taunting and bad sportsmanship you are complaining of, just a hard fought game. What is up with the random capitalization in your posts? You come across like a nutcase. Thanks for the entertainment though, much more interesting than the story itself.

PGC

Interesting. Not one comment regarding the actual story. This SJB fan only has one thing to say, scoreboard(oh, and Times top 25). Oh well, if you can't beat em, join em.

football fan

@ KIKI Supporter.... First Off who is Kiki? Dont know who that is. And Yes #25 Was doing MOst of His Taunting & Dirty Playing Right Before he got Taken out. Karmas Def. a real thing aint it. Which I hate to say because after all they are just Kids but Like I said the Apple doesnt fall far from the Tree right! And Regardless of Whether Your League Choose to PLay Dirty Doesnt mean thats Ur Only Method Of Playing & trying to Get a win. SO Next Time Hold Back On the Pre Game Speech To Opposing Teams Since and Just Give it to Your self instead. Everyone wants them to PLay with Heart & Go Krazy Hard But There is a Big DIfference from Being a Little Overly Excited To the way Bosco Played. Whats Even Crazier is Do you All Believe or was the whole Prayer Before Just a Big Hoax? Think of what Kind of Young Men you are Raising & the Reasons you have your Sons at these type of schools. Hopefully for the Right Reason NOt JUst your only Way to Try & SHine. Reality is Most are Not going to Be Top PIck in the Pac 10 So You should Raise & Lead A better Team then that Who Will Still Win Yet have way More Respect!

Hefe

Sure Cubbb, because Bosco has a reputation for dirty play so that must have been a cheap hit.

You Loyola fans are delusional.

Take your beating, your overhyped/untalented celebrity quarterback, overpriced tuition & we'll see you next season.

cubbb

that wasn't a cut by the RB. after watching game film numerous times he lowered a shoulder into his hip. But SJB fans wouldnt notice since the rush was facing away from that side.

Hefe

FootBall Fan, that is the biggest crock of nonsense I've ever read in my entire life. This is probably the best group of young men I've ever come across. I was sitting at the 50 about 10 rows up and didn't see ONE INSTANCE of bad sportsmanship by EITHER team. A little shoving back & forth as the whistle is being blown is not bad sportsmanship, it's just playing till the whistle is being blown.

It's pathetic that a Loyola fan would come on this board and spew such obvious nonsense. Your team got throttled by a FAR superior Bosco squad so your bitterness leads you to a blog to toss around your venom???

I feel sorry for you.

es

Geez, Loyola supporters didn't like Jeff Kearin, weren't sold on the interim coach and now four games into the season don't like Christensen. Welcome to the era where other teams also have top coaches and good players. Patience is required.

U must be kiki's best supporter

Like my name says u must be kiki's best suporter. What i saw from the SJB stands was a team that played with alot of emotion. Knowing some of these kids they play with lots of excitment.....beacsue they ARE excited. If u had seen the Poly scrimmage that was out of control. The coaching staff has done a great job getting these guys to play with emotion while being under control. From your view did u see the multiple clips on all the punt returns??? Including the one on #25 that made the trainers hold him out for the last 3 minutes of the 1st qtr and entire 2nd qtr. I do not know when or what he was yelling, or even if he was???? whatever u said he was yelling he might have but i would bet it was after he was clipped and held out. But i do know the sjb fans and coaches were upset with the deliberate late hits and clips by Loyola especially on the special teams. How about when the loyola rb, cut the knees out of a blitzing linebacker (illegal) that was not called. It was a physical game. But this week vs. La Habra and going into the Trinity League every game from this point will be more "chippy" and physical. Not sure who u have supported in the past???? But sounds like this might have been your first experience with a Trinity League game.......come on back next week. U thought the Braves were dirty......just watch the holding, scrapping, punching, etc... of the 3x cif champion Highlanders of La Habra..... either that or find yourself a nice water polo match!!!!!

Concerned

Loyola made the biggest mistake by Hiring this New Coach Christensen and Im sure they are regretting it now! From Bad play calls to not able to coach many great players how did he ever get this position? That many players on the side line and he cant find talent in any of them? Seems odd how many good players he had and yet he has done nothing but brought this team down, from their playing skills to their moral! What A bad Decision to hire this coach. He hasnt been their Long yes But its long enough to adjust to a team especially a coach of his so called record & a team at this Level! Damage has been Done Now and It it looks as their is no rainbow in site! Good Luck Loyola I Pray For your Team & Hope They Dont All Lose their Desire to Play this Great Game.

FootBall Fan

I went to See this game & was Actually Sitting on Bosco Side. This would not have made a difference considering the horrible calls that were being made! Personal Fouls on Loyola when Bosco were the ones Pushing, Kicking, taunting and consistantly getting into Loyola players faces to intentionally start a fight. After the speech Bosco gave in regards to having Good Sportsmanship? I think they need to open their eyes and give their own team this talk on how to Play & Win Fair the way you can acutally be proud of winning! At one point Bosco's No.25 Anthony actually walked from one end of the sideline to end of where Loyola's team was lined up actually waving his arms in their face yelling NO GOOD! Really What Kind of Coaches Allow their players to do so or teach them its ok? The Funnier thing is the Refs Failed to notice of Coarse this Taunting Like Many Others But instead Choose to Put the Calls Against Loyola...WOW! How Much Were They Paid Off! Also IF You Have to Make a Speech at Your School About Sportsmanship & take A good Amount of Time up to Explain How Everyone should act at a Game they Must obviously Have had MANY Experiences with Many Angry Parents which Im Sure is Due to their Lack Of Sportsmanship & How They Choose To Get Wins By Picking Fights then Crying about it so they can get The Refs tomake these outrages Calls! Maybe Instead of Giving the Speech to the Visitors they should start looking in the Mirror & figure out Why they Even Have to Give this kind of Speech! Its Not the Opposing Teams Its Your Own Team Bosco...Oh Right Your Name is SAINT JON BOSCO BUT REALLY THE SAINT SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT BECAUS THIS SCHOOL IS FAR FROM ANY SAINTHOOD & OBVIOUSLY THE ADULTS WHO ARE SUPPOSE TO TEACH THEM THESE VALUES ARE TOO!

If I could see this On YOur own side of the field I dont see how the Refs. & COACHES Didnt see this! That Was an Absoulte embarrassment. I am Not Proud AT ALL That They Would Stoop to that Level to help get a Win!
