It was all Mission Viejo in the first half of tonight’s nonleague game against Long Beach Poly.

The Diablos have shown why they are ranked No. 1 in the Southland by The Times, racing to a commanding 20-0 lead and completely stifling Poly’s big-play offense.

Dallas Kessman has rushed for two touchdowns and safety Max Redfield has intercepted two passes for Mission Viejo, which scored touchdowns on each of its first three drives.

Poly’s Kelvain Malveaux, who rushed for over 160 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s win over Narbonne, has rushed four times for (minus)-9 yards.

The Jackrabbits’ defense came up big late in the half when defensive back David Price broke up a fourth-down pass by Mission Viejo quarterback Alex Bridgford and Poly took over at its own 13-yard line.

Poly will receive the second-half kickoff and needs to put points on the board.
