Football: L.A. Jordan gets 17 tackles from Chris Carter
Linebacker Chris Carter from L.A. Jordan was determined last weekend to make sure the Bulldogs came away with a victory against Westchester. He had 17 tackles in a 19-18 win.
Carter and Jackyle Cooper were the key players on defense. Cooper blocked a conversion kick in the fourth quarter to keep Jordan ahead.
Jordan (1-2) had lost to Southern Section schools Long Beach Jordan and Encino Crespi but finally got the first victory for new Coach Sheron Butler.
"It was a great win because it was a great week of practice," Butler said.
Jordan recently appealed to move from City Section Division II to Division I, and it was approved. There will be 37 schools eligible for the Division II playoffs and 21 in Division I.
