What’s going on at Long Beach Poly? Are the Jackrabbits really a passing team?

Junior quarterback Chaiyse Hales passed for 334 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-28 victory over Bakersfield on Thursday.

Every summer, when Poly comes out to participate in passing tournaments, everyone assumes the Jackrabbits are simply going through the motions because they’ll end up relying on their running game.

So for them to come out throwing the ball must be considered a big surprise.

Junior receiver Richard Smith, who was so impressive during the summer, caught three passes, all for touchdowns, for 141 yards.

Poly faces Ventura St. Bonaventure next week. Will St. Bonaventure Coach Todd Therrien be worried about Poly’s passing attack? Absolutely.
