Palm Springs Coach Steve Fabian understands what coaches in Los Angeles might be dealing with when it comes to temperatures in the 100s. His team practices routinely in triple digits.

‘We practice in 117 degrees and haven’t lost a kid yet,’ Fabian said. ‘We’re very careful at what we do. The word for practicing in high temperature is caution. We have fans, coolers, misters, tents.’

It was 104 degrees in Palm Springs Monday afternoon, cooler than the 113 degrees in downtown Los Angeles.

‘Tell Concord De La Salle we’ll play them any time in August at 1 o’clock in the afternoon,’ he said. ‘It will be 122 degrees.’
