Football: Field goal pulls La Habra closer

La Habra is on the board in its nonleague opener against Orange Lutheran.
After a long kick-off return set the Highlanders up at midfield, Brett Bartalone broke outside for a 40-yard gain to Orange Lutheran’s 12-yard line. The Lancers’ defense stiffened and La Habra settled for a 24-yard field goal by Sean Wale with 9:27 left in the second quarter.
Orange Lutheran failed to pick up a first down on its ensuing possession and had to punt, leading 14-3.
