The City Section Interscholastic Athletic Committee gave approval Monday to begin negotiations on moving the City Division I football final from the Coliseum to East Los Angeles College because of budget issues.

The Division I final would be played on Friday, Dec. 10 at East L.A., with the Division II final played on Thursday, Dec. 9 at East L.A.

Last season, the City Section lost $8,000 in holding the final at the Coliseum, with attendance hurt by rain. The Coliseum charged the City Section $25,000 in fees.

John Aguirre, the City Section assistant commissioner in charge of football, said coaches had not voiced any complaints when informed of possibly moving the championship game because of budget issues during a meeting in August.

Aguirre will begin negotiations with East L.A. to finalize details.
