Football: Behind the scenes with Carson High
I spent Saturday with the Carson High football team. From 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., I went on the bus, listened and observed in the locker room and on the sideline.
What was most memorable wasn't how well the Colts played in their 14-10 upset of Santa Ana Mater Dei. What I'll remember most is what a great group of teenagers. They were not intimidated or nervous, they listened to their coaches, they respected each other, they behaved and they loved their music. I thought I was traveling with a bunch of private school kids, which obliterates all the stereotypes from the City Section.
With my video camera rolling, here's what I saw:

As a 1979 Carson High Alumni, I couldn't be prouder of what this video says about these new CHS players and their coach.
We had coach Volnagle who was a great coach and we won a lot of games, but we never had the discipline that I've seen displayed here.
Go Colts! You made me very proud!

Good start for Carson....MD Coaches need to go back to the drawing board again. Try to get it right this time. MD has a great team/No more excuses please!

i so agree with the above comments.
I found this great biblical quote about a guy name Elijah.
Isaiah. 40:3-5… Isaiah speaks of Elijah saying, “A voice is calling, Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. Let every valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, and the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
My interpretation is that certain guys named Elijah are called to right, or make, the path a level "playing field."
Just testifying about a well writ old testament story and a "coach" (teacher/profit) who is trying to make that "verbum" the day to day reality.

Wow, what an amazing coach! I am officially a Coach Asante fan! I hope they win every game except when they play us in 3 weeks. Carson is a class act!

Blown away by the comraderie.
That goes a long way in high school athletics.
Good luck to this team the rest of the way.
