I spent Saturday with the Carson High football team. From 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., I went on the bus, listened and observed in the locker room and on the sideline.

What was most memorable wasn’t how well the Colts played in their 14-10 upset of Santa Ana Mater Dei. What I’ll remember most is what a great group of teenagers. They were not intimidated or nervous, they listened to their coaches, they respected each other, they behaved and they loved their music. I thought I was traveling with a bunch of private school kids, which obliterates all the stereotypes from the City Section.
