Lake Balboa Birmingham Coach Jim Rose doesn’t need a ballot to cast his vote for best team in Southern California.

‘Holy Mackerel. That might have been the best team we’ve ever played,’ Rose said of Corona Centennial, which beat the Patriots, 48-8, last week.

‘They’re impressive. They have speed, strength and size.’

Quarterback Michael Eubank completed 15 of 18 passes for 186 yards. Running backs Romello Goodman and Barrington Collins rushed for 158 and 147 yards, respectively, with Collins scoring five touchdowns.

‘I want to know who can beat those guys,’ Rose said.

Santa Ana Mater Dei gets the next chance on Friday at Centennial.
