The Southern Section has finally released the games chosen by Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket to be broadcast this season, and there were definite winners and losers.

A big winner is Thousand Oaks, which went 5-6 last season, didn’t win a playoff game and might finish fourth in the Marmonte League but gets to make two TV appearances. It’s an indication of the strength of the Marmonte League. Another winner is Huntington Beach Edison, which won’t have its top running back (ineligible) but also gets two TV appearances.

A big loser is the Inland Empire. Only one team from that region, Norco, gets to have a game televised, though there is an open date on Nov. 5. Do you think Chaparral and Corona Centennial are disappointed? And where is Mission Viejo, the team that might start out as No. 1 in The Times’ rankings? The Diablos were shutout for now.

Also, it was believed that Encino Crespi and La Puente Bishop Amat would be chosen for their Oct. 15 game, but it was not considered.

Here’s the regular-season schedule: Sept. 3: Gardena Serra at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 10:30 p.m., tape delayed. Sept. 10: Crenshaw at Norco, 8:30 p.m. Sept. 16: Thousand Oaks at Westlake, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24: Edison vs. Anaheim Servite at Cerritos College, 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 1: Westlake at Oaks Christian, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 8: Long Beach Poly vs. Lakewood at Veterans Stadium, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22: Ventura St. Bonaventure at Thousand Oaks, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29: Santa Ana Mater Dei vs. Servite at Angels Stadium, 10 p.m., tape delayed. Nov. 5: TBA. Nov. 11: Los Alamitos vs. Edison at Veterans Stadium, 7:30 p.m.
