Davion Orphey, considered the top running back and defensive back at Huntington Beach Edison, won’t play this season because of academic ineligibility, Coach Dave White confirmed Tuesday.

It’s a big blow for the Chargers, who reached the Pac-5 Division championship game last season. Edison was expected to build its offense around the senior.

It’s back to the drawing board for White.

‘We’ll battle,’ he said.
