DaVonte Young, a sophomore running back who rushed for 1,612 yards as a freshman at Irvine, has enrolled at Bellflower St. John Bosco. He begins classes on Monday.

Young attended Tustin last semester and was ruled ineligible by the Southern Section because of a disciplinary matter that occurred at Irvine.

He was living with a guardian and has since moved in with his mother in Lakewood. It remains to be seen if he’ll be able to gain eligibility this season at St. John Bosco. He’ll have to start the transfer process all over again, and if he’s denied, make an appeal, and that’s probably weeks away from a final decision.
