Henry Owens, the 6-foot-7 left-hander from Huntington Beach Edison, ended the summer Sunday by striking out the only three batters he faced in the Aflac All-American Baseball Classic at PETCO Park. The East defeated the West, 5-3.

Owens reinforced his reputation as the best pitcher in Southern California going into the 2011 season. Now the Chargers can figure out how to build around him in an attempt to win the Southern Section Division 1 championship next spring.

Travis Harrison from Tustin had an RBI single and Austin Hedges from San Juan Capistrano JSerra contributed a double in the annual game that featured top seniors-to-be from around the country.

The most valuable player award went to catcher Tyler Marlette from Oviedo, Fla. He hit a two-run home run to left using a wooden bat.
