Baseball: Curtis ready to recruit for CS Northridge
Cal State Northridge's new baseball coach is Matt Curtis, who spent the last 10 years as an assistant at Fresno State.
I spoke with him Tuesday, and he's excited about the recruiting base in the San Fernando Valley, Ventura County and neighboring areas. And he sounded like he wants to get to know the local high school coaches, which should help players get exposure and attention.
Northridge's baseball program had started to recruit well locally until Mike Batesole left for Fresno State. Curtis seems to have some of Batesole's skills. He has a big job ahead but seems determined.
"There are some challenges with any job, but there's lots of opportunities," he said.

not there? Wow sorry Mater Die can get whoever they want but lets see from just ventura county (Camarillo 02, Thousand Oaks 03, Simi Valley 04, 08 (Long Beach Wilson), Agoura CIF finalists, Royal CIF Semifinalists this year and i believe 2006) And they do this with a smaller pool of students than the OC and Long Beach programs. There is a reason that the best ventura county players either got drafted or play for D1 schools elsewhere

I had no idea 2010 City Section Division I & CIF Division II Champions El Camino and Glendora were in Orange County....oh wait, they're not. Oh yeah...Mater Dei. I guess you consider 1 out of 3 total domination.

Rousy didn't blow anything with regard to recruiting Ventura and the Valley. The talent is just not there. Sorry. Every year you guys do nothing in Southern section playoffs against your OC and Long Beach brethren. You can take your daddy ball coaches and daddy ball umpires and fool yourselves but come playoff time it's "one and done" & "two and barbeque" for all you delusional over zealous youth baseball fanatics. No wonder junior can't hang.
