Baseball: Chatsworth is returning to National Classic
The debate about whether City Section teams can play well against Southern Section teams is about to be renewed next spring, because eight-time City Section champion Chatsworth has agreed to enter the National Classic for the first time since Tom Meusborn became coach in 1990.
The National Classic will be held April 18-21 in Orange County. Chatsworth has canceled its annual trip to play in a tournament in Las Vegas to participate in the National Classic, which also has commitments from Huntington Beach Edison, Cypress, La Puente Bishop Amat and West Hills Chaminade.
Chatsworth has lots of pitching depth next season, which is important for the National Classic.
"Pitching should give us an opportunity," Meusborn said.
Because the tournament is being played before Easter, Chatsworth was able to add it to its schedule.

Really now, what's all the fuss about high school b-ball? Hello, it's high school!! Some programs use baseball to build character for life other programs build characters that have no life! The sad thing is all this power coaches have on our minors or in other schools the influence parents have over coaches.
My opinion, let the kids play sandlot ball,i.e. pick their own teams every day, and choose a captain, provide their own base coaches, school rep can go on the bus. That's it.
Or the City schools being so strapped for money can rent the fields to travel teams and raise monies all year.
At least on travel teams parents at a crossroads have a choice of moving onto another team versus moving from their neighborhood(post freshman).
Correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe Utah finally had enough dealing with all the boundary/transfer rules and allows full freedom for athletes to move on anytime. After all, are band members restricted?, Quiz league students, etc?
Sorry about the tirade. What's so "National" about the 'National Classic' anyway?

I assume you mean the " hill" as in the Newhall Pass since you said "shakey" and that to me means you're referring to the San Andreas fault which runs right under Hart High and travels North under West Ranch and Valencia High. If you mean south, then your obviously delusional.

ONE OF THE COMMENTS SAID IT, "PLAY THE GAMES AND SEE WHERE THE CHIPS FALL." THAT IS IT. ITS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBAL. ALL OF YOU COMMENTIERS HAVE PASSION FOR YOUR PROGRAM/OPINION...THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. THESE SANDBOX BACK AND FORTHS MAKE BOTH OF YOU SEEM WEAK...AND I KNOW YOUR NOT. JUST PLAY BALL. CHATSWORTH HAS PROVEN ITS PROGRAM
SO HAS CRESPI.....SFV IS LUCKY TO HAVE SO MANY SOLID PROGRAMS....JUST GO OVER THE HILL FOR EXAMPLES OF SHAKY PROGRAMS.....

The City versus Southern section All Star game at Birmingham really says it all the last 3 years. Unfortunately, the Carmelites don't have the grace of the Baseball Gods. That's what happens when you blabber excessively. Your kids are going to inherit your bad habit. Money can only do so much, and time has run out for your kids. Northridge doesn't even want your kids. Oh well. I forgot. Somebody said it best last week in another thread......" Crespi's a football school".........yeah right.

Yep, back-to-back national champs equates to an overrated program. Makes a lot of sense...
Let's talk after the tourney; let the best team win, regardless of whether it's a city or SS team.

ok, yea they always have had a good teams, with a bunch guys in the minors..but come playoff time.. the jv team i was on 2 years ago at crespi could of went to the championship in the city section that year..(22-2) with 3 guys are on vartisy

im usually not a city guy but overrated you know nothing about baseball... Chatsworth might not play anyone during the playoffs but they run a great program, mostly cause they can get whoever they want from the SFV, unless they lose them to the privates

didn't chatsworth only beat TAFT by 2 in the second round, and we lost to a pitcher who throws 91-92 mph in the first round as a one seed, and we did not have our ace pitch for the second half of the season and we still won the national classic, and mission league..and we acutaly play hard teams in the Southern Section... not the city section haha

EVERY team loses seniors. Sounds like you're ALREADY making excuses for Crespi. Good luck with your "rebuilding year"

Chatsworth will not do anything in the national classic, chaminade will not do anything, chatsworth is only playing in this tournament because crespi will not be playing in this tournament this year, this is their rebuilding year after losing 8 guys do divison 1 colleges this year, crespi has made it to the championship every year they have played in this tournament only losing in 04, won in 08 and won last year
