Lots of people have complained that the Southern Section pretty much ignores picking a fight with sports power Santa Ana Mater Dei, but there are some battles looming.

The Southern Section declared sophomore water polo standout Jon Walters, a transfer from Newport Harbor, ineligible. The school is appealing.

Also pending is a hardship waiver request for 6-foot-3 linebacker Todd Hunt, a senior transfer from Connecticut who apparently is friends with quarterback Max Wittek, who also came to Mater Dei from Connecticut.

And still to come is the question whether the Southern Section will approve the transfer of basketball standout Xavier Johnson from Temecula Chaparral.

It should make for an interesting couple of months.
