In an indication of its ability for the coming season, Los Angeles Loyola won the summer California High State Championship in water polo on Sunday, defeating Murrieta Valley, 5-4, at Newport Harbor.

The Cubs were led by goalie Clayton Evans, plus Matt Schwartz, Alex Fortis and men’s youth national team members Jamie Kuprenas and Chancellor Ramirez.
