The next top City Section basketball player to head to the NBA will be . . . former Sylmar High standout Tyler Honeycutt.

The sophomore-to-be at UCLA is playing in the Say No Summer League at Hangar Athletic Xchange in Hawthorne. He’s playing for Salvatori Shooters, and admission is free. He’s scheduled to play at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Also on his team is UCLA’s junior college guard recruit, Lazeric Jones.

Honeycutt has terrific basketball instincts and is fun to watch, which should make him a good NBA player one day.
