La Habra, a program that has been making strides in football, will get plenty of respect after winning the Huntington Beach Edison passing tournament, knocking off Corona Centennial, 25-24, in the final.

There were two players on the day who really stood out for the Highlanders _ quarterback Cody Clements and safety Will Peppard.

‘He’s a good, good player,’ Coach Frank Mazzotta said of Peppard. ‘He’s a three-year starter. He might as well be a coach on the field.’

As for Clements, who has committed to Washington State, Mazzotta said, ‘Clements threw fantastic. Those colleges who were border line on him missed out. He can make all the throws.’
