When Coach Mike Christensen left Carson for Los Angeles Loyola, he did not leave the Colts because the talent level was bare. New Coach Elijah Asante has the Colts ready to play based on their performance Monday in a passing competition at Gardena Serra.

Returning quarterback Justin Alo is going to be one of the best in the City Section. Junior receiver Darreus Rogers is headed for a big season. And there’s lots of other players to watch.

The big challenge for Carson is a demanding nonleague schedule that includes games against Santa Ana Mater Dei, Santa Margarita and Mission Viejo. That will certainly prepare the Colts for Marine League titans Harbor City Narbonne and San Pedro.
