Baseball: Kyle Thompson is on his way

There’s much celebration when a high school athlete signs a letter of intent _ as if all the work is done.

But the real work begins in college _ in the classroom and on the field. And it can be said that former West Hills Chaminade pitcher Kyle Thompson has completed his task and gotten much out of his college experience.

He spent four years at Stanford, got his bachelor’s degree in psychology and graduated in June with a master’s in communication. He was also on the baseball team. Now he’s got a job working for Tesla Motors. His father, Granada Hills Coach Steve Thompson, certainly must be proud.

A pro career isn’t going to happen, but look how sports helped him get a quality college education.
