Interviews are expected soon for the vacant Cal State Northridge baseball coaching position. The position has been advertised and is supposed to be filled by July 15.

School spokesman Bob Vazquez said interest in the position has been ‘high.’ It’s supposed to be filled by July 15, which is important because players have already begun to make verbal commitments after coaches could start contacting them on July 1.

What makes it important for high school baseball is that a top coach could help return the program to one of the best in the Southland. That was what former Coach Mike Batesole was able to do.

Long-time Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said he has not applied for the position but might be interested in an assistant’s job. Both Northridge assistants have also left.
