Baseball: Composite bats banned for 2011

The National Federation of State High School Associations has approved a ban on composite metal bats for the 2011 season.

The bats have been outlawed until they can meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard.

The new rule allows bats with composite handles and tapers but not the barrel of the bat.
