Last spring, Chatsworth had trouble beating good teams and good pitchers, so Monday’s performance in the VIBL playoffs might be a sign of good things to come, because Christian Lopez threw a no-hitter as Chatsworth defeated West Hills Chaminade, 3-0, in a quarterfinal game.

Raul Camas had an RBI triple for Chatsworth, which advances to Wednesday’s semifinals. Lopez struck out six and walked one. Chatsworth will host Valencia West Ranch in the semifinals. West Ranch scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 5-4 win over Mission Hills Alemany.

Defending City Section Division I champion Woodland Hills El Camino Real defeated Valencia, 4-0, with Jose Cardona and A.J. Silberman combining on the shutout. Jake Mills and Justin Russell had two hits apiece.

El Camino Real will play host to Moorpark in Wednesday’s 5 p.m. semifinal. Moorpark defeated Taft, 6-4.
