An attorney representing Santa Margarita High and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange is scheduled to appear in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana on Monday morning seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent the CIF Southern Section from releasing information about a self-imposed punishment the school accepted March 31 for a rules violation.

The Times made a California Public Records Act request with the Southern Section asking for information and details about the penalty agreed to by Santa Margarita and the Southern Section. The school does not want the information released.

Santa Margarita has said that it violated rule 510 (undue influence) at an open house at its new athletic facility in which new football Coach Harry Welch made a presentation to parents of youth football players.
