Football: Top teams in Saugus tournament

There will be 24 schools competing on Friday and Saturday in the Saugus seven-on-seven passing tournament at Central Park. Action begins at 2 p.m. on Friday and goes through 8 p.m.

The championship round on Saturday will be in the afternoon and evening.

Here’s the pools:

A: Saugus, Palmdale Knight, Burbank Burroughs, Pasadena Muir. B: Valencia, Agoura, Mission Hills Alemany, Ojai Nordhoff. C: Canyon Country Canyon, Simi Valley Royal, Crescenta Valley, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. D: Santa Clarita Golden Valley, Westlake Village Oaks Christian, Long Beach Poly, San Fernando. E: Newhall Hart, Lancaster Eastside, Newbury Park, West Hills Chaminade. F: Valencia West Ranch, Palmdale, Westlake Village Westlake, Sun Valley Village Christian.

The tournament organizers saved the best for last because the schedule has Oaks Christian facing Long Beach Poly at 8 p.m. on Friday in the most intriguing matchup of the day.

Other passing competitions of note this week: Oaks Christian is hosting Woodland Hills Taft, Harbor City Narbonne and Santa Maria on Wednesday night. Los Angeles Loyola is hosting Los Angeles Crenshaw, Venice and Carson on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Beverly Hills tournament takes place all day.
