Boys' basketball: Taft beats Long Beach Poly
Hold off on the coronation of Long Beach Poly being the best boys' basketball team in the state. Woodland Hills Taft defeated the Jackrabbits, 44-40, in a USC tournament game.
"We aren't dead yet," Taft Coach Derrick Taylor said.
Taylor singled out forward Brandon Perry and center Kevin Johnson in helping the Toreadors control the boards against the Jackrabbits.
Taft and Long Beach Poly are expected to meet again in the Fairfax tournament, which begins on June 28.

School has been out for less than a month and there is a story about Taft beating Long Beach Poly in a summer league game. Really? Alan you say that the arrogance of the coach will be the down fall, from my observation the coach has done a very good job and the teams he has had over his last 7 years 99% of the kids have been in the program since their freshman year, not like some of the other programs that have to go out and recurit and or steal players from other schools. Let's just wait and see what unfolds when the 2010-2011 school year starts. The Jackrabbits had a very good year with mostly he underclassmen leading the way. As they say...There are two types of people Alan...Those that went to Poly and those who wish they had!!!!!!

Cmon now. When Poly wins, they are loaded top to bottom, too many weapons, the best team in the state, etc. When they lose or someone else accomplishes something it is "only summer". You can't have it both ways. The arrogance of their head coach will be there downfall.

the only thing twisted is the towel on your head.

Don't get it twisted... Poly played most of the game with its new kids trying to get them some experience. Center Ryan Anderson spent the weekend at a Cal camp returned in time to play and forward Enarnest P. was not present at all due to a football camp.
