Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei’s reinforcements arrive

Santa Ana Mater Dei loses its outstanding trio of Gary Franklin Jr., Tyler Lamb and Keala King to graduation, but the reinforcements have arrived.

Xavier Johnson, a 6-foot-6 transfer from Temecula Chaparral, has officially enrolled at Mater Dei. We’ll see if he’s eligible in the fall.

The Monarchs have also picked up two prized incoming freshmen in 6-6 Stanley Johnson and 6-5 Shaqquan Aaron.

There’s never any rebuilding at Mater Dei, just reloading. Can’t wait to see how Long Beach Poly and Corona Centennial deal with the new-look Monarchs.
