The championship game of the Mater Dei summer basketball tournament is Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

In the semifinals, Mater Dei is set to play Upland at 1:30 p.m., with Compton taking on Long Beach Poly at 3 p.m. The winners play in the final. Compton knocked off Corona Centennial in the quarterfinals.

Centennial didn’t have Dominique Dunning, who scored 29 points earlier in the day against Orange Lutheran. He played in an all-star game at Woodland Hills Taft instead. And that raises the question why? He already has a scholarship to New Mexico.

But he had permission from his coach to play in the all-star game.

UPDATE: Long Beach Poly won the championship, defeating Mater Dei, 65-47. Alex Carmon had 20 points in the final.
