Andrew Pevsner, a relief pitcher from Johns Hopkins, was drafted in the 16th round by the Dodgers. He played on Agoura’s 2006 Division 1 runner-up team.

His father, David, relates the story how his son was born on Oct. 15, 1988 in Tarzana, about two hours before Kirk Gibson’s home run in the 1988 World Series.

‘Had his mom not finally insisted on giving him his name before she left the delivery room, his initials could very well have been KGP,’ his father said in an e-mail.

He went to his first Dodger game at 7 months old.
