Woodland Hills El Camino Real pitcher Jose Cardona, the City Section player of the year, and Huntington Beach Edison pitcher Henry Owens were members of the Babe Ruth team that won the gold medal Sunday in the Tournament of Stars in Cary, N.C.

More than 125 top high school players from around the country were trying to make the U18 national team.

Also on the gold medal team were catcher Austin Hedges from San Juan Capistrano JSerra, outfielder Travis Harrison from Tustin, infielder Christian Lopes from Edison, pitcher Kenny Mathews from Diamond Bar and outfielder Eric Snyder from Edison.

Now that’s an all-star team of great Southern California prospects.
