Evan Barr, a junior pole vaulter from Los Angeles Loyola, stamped himself as one of the favorites to win a state championship after clearing 16 feet on Thursday at the Mission League championship. That’s the second-best mark in the pole vault this season behind the injured Michael Woepse of Santa Ana Mater Dei.

Barr’s teammate, senior Clint Rosser, went 15-8, which tied for the second-best mark this season prior to Barr’s successful height.
