Carson Coach Cam Werner said today’s City Section semifinal against Chatsworth has taken on a special meaning for the six seniors on her team.

After all, the team lost a 12-inning, 2-1 heartbreaker last year to Granada Hills in the quarterfinals.

‘Five minutes after that game was over,’ Werner said, ‘they had that determination that we’re not going to let that happen to us again.’

Today’s game is at 3 p.m. at Carson High. The top-seeded Colts are trying to win the first City Section softball title in school history. ‘That would mean so much for our school and our community,’ Werner said.

In the other semifinal, second-seeded San Pedro will host third-seeded Granada Hills Kennedy today at 2:30 p.m.
