Former USC Coach Pete Carroll never tried to get commitments from so many top players in Southern California this early, but Lane Kiffin has a different strategy.

After commitments this week from receiver Victor Blackwell of Santa Ana Mater Dei and running back De’Anthony Thomas of Los Angeles Crenshaw, the Trojans have offered a scholarship to Mission Viejo linebacker Tre Madden. And another top player, defensive end Jason Gibson from Gardena Serra, also received a scholarship offer from the Trojans.

They could be building an all-star team in May.
