Wilmington Banning halved its deficit in the fourth inning when Lucas Macias doubled over San Pedro left fielder Nolan Meadows’ head, driving in Mike Encinas with the Pilots’ first run.

San Pedro leads the Marine League showdown, 2-1, going into the bottom of the fourth.

It looked like Pirates starter Jon Mata might get out of the fourth without allowing a run after Encinas tripled to right-center to open the inning. Mata retired the next two batters before Macias came through with his double.

But Banning stranded runners at second and third when Chris Johnson grounded out.
