Football: Get ready for a roast of Bill Redell

Westlake Village Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell has decided the best way to raise funds for a new synthetic turf field is to be roasted by friend and foe alike, and so on May 23 at the Canyon Club in Agoura, Redell will face his tormentors.

Among those expected to offer thoughts about Redell are Joe Montana, Wayne Gretzky, Terry Donahue, Rick Neuheisel and Westlake Coach Jim Benkert, who used to be Redell's offensive coordinator.

There's probably so many people who want to speak that the roast will have to have a time limit or no one would be able to leave before 3 a.m.

The roast is still being finalized, so who knows what the final list of speakers will look like. But there should be lots of laughs at Redell's expense.

Redell needs a roast after that play calling that cost him the championship against Serra

Top Tier Football

This turf is long overdue and expected for any top tier football power. Being an Oaks Christian alumnus the clincher on this decision was when we played Cathedral last year. Possibly the best high school football venue we've played in the last five years and the view was spellbounding. And all this in an inner city school that raised $5 million to make this happen. OC football should not being playing catch-up, JSerra isn't.
