Football: Crist, McDonald in Notre Dame starting lineup

Former Sherman Oaks Notre Dame standouts Dayne Crist (quarterback) and Anthony McDonald (inside linebacker) are running first string this spring for Notre Dame.

Coach Kevin Rooney traveled to South Bend, Ind., last week to watch spring practice and said of Crist, "He was throwing the ball great. It was fun to watch."

Crist is expected to replace Jimmy Clausen as the Fighting Irish quarterback. Crist is coming back from a knee injury that still isn't 100% healed.

Great! Dayne and Anthony are class acts who have worked very hard. I like seeing Coach Rooney (classiest of all acts) have the opportunity to watch some of his kids in person at the next level. His dedication to the school and SFV football or the past 30 years has been invaluable and is a standard for other coaches to follow.
