Football: Another Long Beach Poly grad is drafted by the NFL
Receiver Terrence Austin from UCLA, drafted in the seventh round by the Washington Redskins, has given Long Beach Poly grads another opportunity to stick their chests out because the Jackrabbits are No. 1 or close to it when it comes to sending players to the NFL.
And another Poly grad, defensive back Donovan Warren from Michigan, signed as a free agent with the New York Jets.
Here's a 2006 story about Poly's NFL success. And here's the Sports Illustrated 2005 ranking of Poly. Five years have gone by, so who knows if a high school has surpassed the Jackrabbits, but I doubt it.
