Now that the successor for Cardinal Roger Mahony has been selected as the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the big question is, does Jose Gomez like high school football as much as Mahony did?

And which side of the field will he stand on when Sherman Oaks Notre Dame plays rival Encino Crespi?

Gomez was the archbishop in San Antonio, where high school football is big. Will he encourage Catholic high schools to pay their football coaches big salaries, as seems to be the case these days at certain schools?
