Sherman Oaks Notre Dame seems to be producing lots of home run hitters these days. Mike Stanton, a former Notre Dame outfielder, is tearing up the minor leagues. And then there’s senior David Armendariz.

On Tuesday night at Birmingham, he hit a home run so far to right field that it amazed Encino Crespi Coach Scott Muckey, who said, ‘That was probably 60 feet over the fence. It was a blast.’

It was the seventh home run this season for Armendariz, who’s supposed to be known for his pitching skills but obviously can hit the long ball. Crespi won, 10-7.
